How to Take Care of Sterling Silver Beads
Sterling silver beads are available in various patterns, shapes and sizes. These beads are very popular among the jewelry makers. Sterling silver beads are mostly used as spacer beads in necklaces, bracelets, earrings and pendants. Some of the popular sterling silver beads that are readily available in any of the reputed jewelry shops include Bali beads, satin beads, donut roundel beads,corrugated beads and stardust beads. The other silver beads include fancy beads, saucer beads and laser cut beads.
Sterling silver bead jewelry is popular among the young and the old because of its simplicity. However to keep the sterling silver jewelry in good conditions and to keep it free from tarnishing you need to take good care.
Tarnish on the sterling silver beads can be prevented by keeping these beads in an airtight jewelry boxes, preferably in a wooden box. Another caring tip is to put a packet of silicon that comes with leather goods in the box which contains the sterling silver beads. This will absorb the moisture and prevent the beads from tarnishing. The sterling silver beads can be dented easily. Therefore, it should be kept in separate box and not along with other jewelry pieces.
It is advisable to remove the jewelry made from sterling silver beads before bathing. This will prevent tarnishing. However, if by accident the beads come in contact with water, wipe them dry with soft jewelry cloth. Keep in mind to use only soft jewelry cloth while cleaning the sterling silver beads. Using abrasive cloth will make scratches on the beads.
Also do not use any cleaners or polishers that contain strong chemical compound in them. The reason is it can damage the jewelry. To remove the tarnish from the beads, soak the sterling silver beads in a bowl containing a mixture of salt water or baking powder solution.
